If you have solar, at any particular moment, your home may be producing more electricity than it is consuming. You can take that extra electricity and work with your power company to put it back onto the grid. That\’s right you are actually during that time a green power producing plant supplying power to your neighbors.
This is what is referred to a zero energy home. During the day you are supplying extra power to the electric grid, and at night you are consuming power from the grid. Ideally, the meter readings at the beginning and the end of the month are the same numbers, costing you nothing for electricity.
